【摘要】:IAQ-basedcomplaintsandproblemsincludingdiscomfort/healthsymptomsandunacceptableindoorenvironmentalconditionssuchasodorsexistinresidentialbuildings,butthefrequencyoftheoccurrenceofIAQcomplaintsandproblemsisnotknown.CharacterizationofIAQconcernsandidentificationoftheirunderlyingcausesrequiresystematicobservationsandmeasurementsoftheindoorenvironment,itsoccupantsandcontaminantsources.ThispracticeprovidesbackgroundandproceduresfortheinvestigationofIAQconcerns.Wherethedwellingisnotowner-occupied,formalpermissiontoaccesscertainareasofthepropertyandtocollectinformationessentialtotheIAQinvestigationisoftendeemedessentialtobeobtainedfromtheownerand,whereapplicable,fromothertenants.Aninvestigatorshouldseekappropriatelegaladviceinthesematters.CertainstagesoftheIAQinvestigationcouldbenefitfromareviewofexistingmedicalrecords.Thisrequiresspecificwrittenpermissionfromthepatient.Thestepwiseandphasedapproachdescribedinthispracticeallowsforaninvestigationthatiscommensuratewiththenatureoftheproblemandthelevelofresourcesavailablefortheinvestigation.1.1Thisstandardpracticedescribesproceduresforevaluatingindoorairquality(IAQ)concernsinresidentialbuildings.1.2ThepracticeprimarilyaddressesIAQconcernsencounteredinsingle-familydetachedandattached(forexample,townhouseorduplexdesign)residentialbuildings.Limitedguidanceisalsoincludedforlow-andhigh-risemultifamilydwellings.1.3TheIAQevaluationproceduresarecomprisedofinterviewswiththehomeownerorresident(s)(includingtelephoneinterviewsandface-to-facemeetings)andon-siteinvestigations(includingwalk-through,assessment,andmeasurements).Forpracticalityinapplication,theseproceduresaredividingintothreeseparatephases.1.4TheproceduresdescribedinthisstandardpracticeareaimedatidentifyingpotentialcausescontributingtotheIAQconcern.Suchfindingsshouldbecomeabasisforrecommendingcorrectivemeasures.Thisstandardpracticedoesnotdescribeproblemresolutionorcorrectivemeasuresandthestandardisnotintendedtoevaluatetheimpactofcorrectivemeasures.1.5Implementationofproceduresgiveninthisstandardrequirestheinvestigator(orinvestigativeteam)tohaveadequatebackgroundinseveralareas:generalprinciplesofIAQ;interviewingtechniques;buildingdesignandconstructionpractices;basicunderstandingofheatingandcoolingsystemsandappliances;useofIAQmeasurementequipment;interpretationofIAQdata;andtechnicalreportwriting.1.6AlthoughmanyelementsdescribedinthisstandardpracticemaybeusefulintrainingofIAQinvestigators,itshouldnotbeusedasthesolebasisforspecifyingorconductingsuchtraining.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foradditionalsafetyprecautionaryinformation,seeSection6.
