【摘要】:Solidboard,lumberandtimberproducts(includingsolidboards,lumber,timber,fingerjoinedlumber,glulam,laminatewood,laminatedveneerlumberandparallelstrandlumberproducts);panelproducts(includingfibreboard,hardboard,orientedstrandboard,waferboardandplywoodpanelproducts);decorativewoodproductsandshinglesandshakesusedasinteriorwallandceilingfinishareoftenevaluatedwithTestMethodE84tocomplywithcoderequirements.Thispracticedescribesspecimenpreparationandmountingproceduresforsuchmaterialsandsystems.Ifitcanbedemonstratedthatnoneofthemethodsdescribedinthispracticeareapplicabletoaparticularproduct,othermountingmethodsshallbepermittedtobeused.Thisinformationshallbeincludedinthereport.ThelimitationsforthisprocedurearethoseassociatedwithTestMethodE84.1.1ThispracticedescribesproceduresforspecimenpreparationandmountingwhentestingwoodproductstoassessflamesspreadandsmokedevelopmentassurfaceburningcharacteristicsusingTestMethodE84.1.2TestingisconductedwithTestMethodE84.1.3Thispracticedoesnotprovidepass/failcriteriathatcanbeusedasaregulatorytool.1.4Usethevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsasthestandard,inrefereedecisions.ThevaluesintheSIsystemofunitsaregiveninparentheses,forinformationonly;seeIEEE/ASTMSI-10forfurtherdetails.1.5Thisfirestandardcannotbeusedtoprovidequantitativemeasures.1.6Firetestingofproductsandmaterialsisinherentlyhazardous,andadequatesafeguardsforpersonnelandpropertyshallbeemployedinconductingthesetests.Firetestinginvolveshazardousmaterialsandequipment.Thisstandardgivesinstructionsonspecimenpreparationandmounting,butthefire-test-responsemethodisgiveninTestMethodE84.SeealsoSection10.1.7Thetextofthisstandardreferencesnotesandfootnoteswhichprovideexplanatorymaterials.Thesenotesandfootnotesshallnotbeconsideredrequirementsofthestandard.1.8Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
