【摘要】:Environmentoroxidativetime-to-faildataderivedfromthistestmethod,analyzedinaccordancewithSection13,aresuitableforextrapolationtotypicalend-usetemperaturesandhoopstresses.Theextrapolatedvalue(s)providesarelativeindicationoftheresistanceofthetestedPEXtubingorsystemtotheoxidativeeffectsofhot,chlorinatedwaterforconditionsequivalenttothoseconditionsunderwhichthetestdatawereobtained.Theperformanceofamaterialorpipingproductunderactualconditionsofinstallationanduseisdependentuponanumberoffactorsincludinginstallationmethods,usepatterns,waterquality,natureandmagnitudeoflocalizedstresses,andothervariablesofanactual,operatinghot-and-coldwaterdistributionsystemthatarenotaddressedinthistestmethod.Assuch,theextrapolatedvaluesdonotconstitutearepresentationthataPEXtubeorsystemwithagivenextrapolatedtime-to-failurevaluewillperformforthatperiodoftimeunderactualuseconditions.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesthegeneralrequirementsforevaluatingthelong-term,chlorinatedwater,oxidativeresistanceofcross-linkedpolyethylene(PEX)tubingproducedinaccordancewithSpecificationF876orPEXtubing/fittingsystemsinaccordancewithSpecificationF877usedinhot-and-coldwaterdistributionsystemsbyexposuretohot,chlorinatedwater.Thistestmethodoutlinestherequirementsofapressurizedflow-throughtestsystem,typicaltestpressures,test-fluidcharacteristics,failuretype,anddataanalysis.Note18212;Otherknowndisinfectingsystems(chlorinedioxide,ozone,andchloramines)arealsousedforprotectionofpotablewater.Free-chlorineisthemostcommondisinfectantinusetoday.APPIresearchprojectexaminedtherelativeaggressivenessoffreechlorineandchloraminesonPEXpipes,bothatthesame4.0ppmconcentrationandthesametesttemperatures.Theresultsofthetestingshowedpipefailuretimesapproximately40%longerwhentestedwithchloraminescomparedtotestingwithfreechlorine,atthetestedconditions.Basedontheseresults,thedatasuggeststhatchloraminesarelessaggressivethanfreechlorinetoPEXpipes.1.2Guidelinesandrequirementsfortesttemperatures,testhoopstresses,andothertestcriteriahavebeenestablishedbypriortestingofPEXtubingproducedbythethreemostcommoncommercialmethodsofcross-linking:silane,peroxide,andelectron-beam(seeNote2).OtherrelatedsystemcomponentsthattypicallyappearinaPEXhot-and-coldwaterdistributionsystemcanbeevaluatedwiththePEXtubing.WhentestingPEXtubingandfittingsasasystem,itisrecommendedthattheanticipatedend-usefittingtype(s)andmaterial(s)beincludedinthetestcircuitsinceitisknownthatsomefittingtypesandmaterialscanimpactfailuretimes.Specimensusedshallberepresentativeofthepipingproduct(s)andmaterial(s)underinvestigation.Note28212;Theproceduresdescribedinthistestmethod(withsomemodificationsoftesttemperaturesorstresses,orboth)havebeenusedtoevaluatepipesmanufacturedfrompolybutylene(PB),polyethylene(PE),polypropylene(PP),multilayer(polymer-metalcomposite),copper,andstainlesssteel.1.3ThistestmethodisapplicabletoPEXtubingandsystemsusedfortransportofpotablewatercontainingfree-chlorinefordisinfectingpurposes.Theoxidizingpotentialofthetest-fluidspecifiedinthistestmethodexceedsthattypicallyfoundinpotablewatersystemsacrosstheUnitedStates.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-pou......
